Arriving at Cape Clear Island. The building in the center of the picture is the café. It would figure into everyone's plans later on.
Not far off the pier was a plaque about a St. Ciarán born on Cape Clear in 352 AD. When Ciarán heard from sailors about a new religion in Rome, he went there and embraced Christianity. He returned many years later and converted the island community to Christianity. This was prior to St Patrick teaching Caltholicism in Ireland, so the people of Cape Clear Island were the first in Ireland to become Christians.
